Baptized in a City Park: What It Means, and How to Say Yes
Every year people are baptized in the open air at Jesus Festival Hamilton, in front of the whole park. Here is what baptism actually is, what happens at Gage Park, and how to take that step on September 4-5, 2026.
What baptism actually is
Baptism is going under water and coming back up — a burial and a resurrection you act out with your own body. It does not save you; it is the public declaration of a faith decision already made, like a wedding ring for a covenant of the heart.
Do I qualify?
The only requirement in the New Testament is belief in Jesus (Acts 16:31). No theology exam, no membership, no waiting period. Adults christened as babies often choose believer's baptism as their own decision. Not sure what you believe yet? Come and watch, ask questions, and grow first — IAmReborn.net is a good place to start.
What happens at Gage Park
Baptisms happen in the open air on the Saturday of Jesus Festival, September 5, 2026. A baptism team talks with you first, you say your yes out loud, and you go under to the loudest cheer of the weekend. Wear clothes that can get wet and bring a towel — spontaneous yeses are welcome too.
What happens after
Every person baptized is connected with a local church and real follow-up through the festival's discipleship network — nobody is left in the parking lot with a towel.
