How to Share Your Testimony in Three Minutes
Your story of meeting Jesus is not too small and not too messy. A simple shape for telling it, mistakes to avoid, and where to share what God did at Gage Park.
Your testimony is simply the true story of how you met Jesus and what has changed since. You do not need a dramatic past, a microphone or a theology degree to tell it. You need about three minutes and the courage to be honest.
At Jesus Festival 2026, some of the most powerful moments were short sentences said at the baptism tank: “I have no desire for my vape anymore and threw it away.” “My back is healed!” “I was lost — who would have thought Jesus led me here!” None of those people prepared a speech. They told the truth about what God did.
Why your story matters
People can argue with ideas. It is much harder to argue with what happened to you. When the man born blind in John 9 was questioned, he did not give a lecture; he said, “One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
Your story also helps you. Saying out loud what God has done keeps it from shrinking into a private memory you slowly stop believing. And it gives the people who love you a way into the conversation.
A simple shape: before, meeting Jesus, after
Before (about one minute). What was your life like? What were you looking for, carrying or running from? Be specific and honest, but you do not have to tell everything.
Meeting Jesus (about one minute). How did you come to trust Him? Was it a moment, like an altar call in a park, or a slow turning over months? Who or what did God use?
After (about one minute). What is different now? Not perfect — different. Peace where there was anxiety, freedom from something that held you, a hope you did not have before. Then, if it fits, a simple invitation: “Can I pray for you?” or “Would you like to come with me on Sunday?”
Write it down once
Take twenty minutes and write your story using those three parts. Aim for about 400 words — roughly three minutes spoken. Read it aloud and cut anything that sounds like a sermon. Then put the paper away. You are not memorising a script; you are getting clear on the story so you can tell it naturally.
Many people also find it helps to have a one-sentence version ready: “I was angry and empty for years, and Jesus gave me peace I could not find anywhere else.” Sometimes one sentence is all a conversation has room for.
Mistakes that make testimonies harder to hear
Glorifying the past. Spend more time on what Jesus did than on what you did. Church words. Say “I asked Jesus to forgive me and lead my life,” not phrases a friend who has never been to church would not understand. Pretending everything is fixed. Honesty about ongoing struggles makes your story more believable, not less.
Talking too long. Three minutes respects the listener and leaves room for questions. If they want more, they will ask.
Where to share it
Start with one person who knows you. Then share it wherever God gives you an opening: over coffee, in a small group, in a message to a friend.
If God met you at Jesus Festival — you were saved, baptized, healed, or simply encountered Him in the park — please tell us. Use the “Your testimony matters” form on the home page or email hello@jesusfestival.ca. Share only what you are comfortable with, and tell us whether we may share it publicly. Your story will encourage the people praying toward 2027.

Questions people ask
What is a Christian testimony?
A testimony is the true story of how you came to faith in Jesus and what has changed in your life since. It is usually told in three parts: life before, how you met Jesus, and life after.
How long should a testimony be?
About three minutes, or roughly 400 words, is a good length for most conversations. It is also helpful to have a one-sentence version ready.
What if my testimony is not dramatic?
Every story of meeting Jesus matters. Growing up in faith, or coming to trust Jesus slowly, is just as real as a sudden change. Be honest about what God has done.
